Liposuction: Shape your body and eliminate localized fat
What is liposuction?
Liposuction or liposculpture is one of the most popular and revolutionary cosmetic body surgery procedures, designed to remove excess fat and improve body contour. This procedure not only helps improve physical appearance but can also boost self-confidence.
Developed in the 1980s, the technique of liposuction, also known as liposuction, is one of the most common procedures practiced by cosmetic surgeons today. Especially indicated for treating fat cells resistant to exercise, diet, or weight loss, it can be used to refine different parts of the body and face, offering natural results.
If you are considering this cosmetic procedure in Barcelona, do not hesitate to make an appointment now with one of our cosmetic surgeons so that they can propose a treatment plan adapted to your situation.

Am I a good candidate for liposuction?
Liposuction is designed to remove localized fat deposits that do not respond to diet or exercise, not for weight loss, but to sculpt the body or face. It is recommended to reach a weight close to the ideal before surgery.
However, it is not a suitable surgery for heavy smokers, women undergoing treatment with contraceptive pills, people at high risk of phlebitis, embolism or those suffering from obesity.
It applies to both sexes and is advised to be done after the age of 18 and before 60, as the best results are obtained with firm and elastic skin.
At Turó Park Aesthetic, we are committed to your well-being before, during, and after the procedure, ensuring professionalism not only in the treatment but also on the road to recovery.

What parts of the body can be reshaped by liposuction?
A procedure that allows removing excess fat from the abdomen. However, it does not eliminate visceral fat that is lodged inside the abdominal organs. This particular procedure is often combined with an abdominoplasty.
The operation on the thighs actually affects 4 areas:
- The outer thighs
- The inner thighs
- The front of the thighs
- The back of the thighs
It usually gives very good results, especially on the outer and inner thighs.
It allows for the removal of excess fat from the arms in a circular manner, with small scars. It creates a harmonious shape and promotes the natural retraction of the skin.
It involves removing fat between the chin and the neck. This procedure has the effect of defining the boundary between the face and the neck, which tends to blur with age and hormonal changes.
Breast liposuction involves reducing the excess volume of the breasts. In men, it is usually performed as part of a gynecomastia operation.
Liposuction Step by Step
The first consultation is always conducted with one of our surgeons before proceeding with liposuction. This first consultation is an opportunity to learn about your medical history and to find out if any contraindications would prevent you from undergoing the operation.
A consultation with an anesthesiologist is also required two weeks before the liposuction.
Liposuction is performed under local anesthesia for limited fat excess, but general anesthesia is required for large or complicated areas. The duration varies depending on the areas and the size of the operation, from 30 minutes per area to 2.5 hours for multiple areas. Small incisions are made, preferably in folds to hide scars, where cannulas are inserted to aspirate the fat before suturing. Afterward, compression is applied using an elastic garment or bands to minimize bruising and aid recovery.
The initial results of liposuction are visible immediately after the operation, but the full effects are appreciated between 3 and 6 months when the skin has fully retracted. Postsurgery, it is crucial to avoid anticoagulants, smoking, alcohol consumption, and sports for at least two weeks, as well as taking pain relievers for discomfort.

Very pleased with Dr. Lloyd Nanhekhan and his staff. Highly recommended. I have seen more than 10 specialists in Barcelona but he is the only one I could trust and always will. He focuses on his patients and best practices from the medical perspective not the sales perspective.

Frequently Asked Questions about Liposuction
The procedure is performed under anesthesia and, therefore, is not painful. However, the aftermath of liposuction can be somewhat painful. The intensity of pain varies in proportion to the amount of fat extracted and the areas treated.
Liposuction is never an obesity treatment. Ideally, the weight should be normal, with a body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 25. Being overweight reduces the chances of achieving good results, as the fat is too diffuse.
Liposuction is effective in treating the consequences of cellulite and its visual effects, such as the appearance of orange peel skin and dimples, but it does not eliminate the phenomenon of cellulite.
