Uses and history of Neuromodulators
Nowadays, neuromodulators are used both in aesthetic and therapeutic medicine, since their main function is to inhibit the communication between nerves and muscles, preventing their contraction and generating a temporary relaxation.
It all started in the 1970s, when it was used therapeutically to treat disorders such as infantile strabismus, facial tics, uncontrollable blinking (blepharospasm), spasmodic torticollis, dysphonia and pain in the temporomandibular joint. It was later approved for aesthetic use, quickly becoming popular and is today one of the most common treatments in non-invasive aesthetic medicine.
In aesthetic medicine, neuromodulators are used to smooth expression lines in the upper part of the face, such as frown lines, crow’s feet and horizontal lines in the forehead. As well as to improve the appearance of the neck and lips. It is a treatment that is considered both corrective and preventive, being applied as soon as the first wrinkles or expression lines emerge.
Types of wrinkles that Neuromodulators can treat
The main benefit of neuromodulators is to smooth dynamic wrinkles, which are those that form due to repeated facial movements, such as frowning, raising the eyebrows or smiling.
These wrinkles formed by this muscular contraction disappear or diminish when we are relaxed or at rest. Over time, if the movements are repeated frequently, the wrinkles may become deeper or permanent. That is why neuromodulators are effective, because they generate a muscular relaxation avoiding this type of wrinkles.
Therefore, neuromodulators are effective in treating various types of wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, forehead expression lines, frown lines and others.

Facial Neuromodulators step by step
Prior to the procedure, a consultation is necessary so that the physician can establish a personalized treatment plan.
This initial visit is also an opportunity to rule out any contraindications. If you regularly take medication or have a medical condition, it is time to discuss it with your doctor.
The needles are very fine and the injections are almost painless, so anesthesia is not required, although anesthetic cream is sometimes used for added comfort. The skin is first disinfected and then injected in small doses at precise points on the muscles. The session usually lasts from 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the work to be done.
The effects of neuromodulator injection appear between 2 and 10 days, depending on the patient. A follow-up appointment is recommended after 15 days to evaluate the results and progress of the treatment.
Post-treatment care includes avoiding massaging the injection sites, intense sports, motorcycle helmets, hot baths, hammam / sauna sessions or sun exposure for 24 hours.

Very pleased with Dr. Lloyd Nanhekhan and his staff. Highly recommended. I have seen more than 10 specialists in Barcelona but he is the only one I could trust and always will. He focuses on his patients and best practices from the medical perspective not the sales perspective.
Maryam A.
I have done PRP 3 times with Dr. Martin and it has been great. The first time I tried prp with him, I wanted to continue more times with him because he has a very good hand. He pricked me carefully so that I would not get pain (it is not painful) explaining about the prp treatment. I highly recommend him for your first treatment at turo clinic. You would do the same as me to repeat it with him afterwards!!!
