Blepharoplasty: Renew your look by removing excess skin from the eyelids
Why undergo blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery performed primarily to rejuvenate the area around the eyes, improving both the appearance and functionality of the eyelids.
This procedure is ideal for removing excess skin in the upper eyelid, which over time can hang over the eyes due to loss of elasticity, giving a tired appearance and, in some cases, making vision difficult. Blepharoplasty removes this excess skin, returning a fresher and more youthful appearance to the face. In addition, it eliminates the fat bags that form in both the upper and lower eyelids, which create an appearance of puffiness or “dark circles”. When this procedure is performed, these fat accumulations are eliminated or repositioned, which helps to achieve a smoother and more rested eye contour.
This procedure is ideal for those seeking to improve the appearance of their eyes and eliminate the signs of aging, achieving a more rested and rejuvenated look. What is blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, has become one of the most requested cosmetic procedures today. Its popularity is not only due to the promise of rejuvenating the look but also to its minimally invasive nature and relatively short recovery times.
In blepharoplasty, we remove excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids, which immediately improves the patient’s physical appearance. For the lower eyelids, the main goal is the removal and repositioning of fat to eliminate the bothersome bags under the eyes that develop over the years.
By carefully removing excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids, this procedure not only refines your look but can also expand your field of vision.
How is blepharoplasty different from ptosis surgery?
Although both procedures involve the upper eyelid, they have different purposes and techniques.
Ptosis surgery corrects a problem caused by weakening or damage to the levator muscle or its nerve, while blepharoplasty has a more aesthetic goal, as it is mainly used to remove excess skin or fat in the upper or lower eyelids, improving the appearance of the eyes and sometimes improving vision.
Ptosis surgery consists of adjusting or strengthening this muscle in order to restore its functionality, raising the eyelid to its natural position and, in many cases, improving vision. It can affect one or both eyes, limiting proper eyelid elevation. And although it can occur at any age, it is more common in older adults due to aging. In the case of children, it is usually congenital and requires treatment to prevent visual problems.
It is essential to treat ptosis promptly to avoid complications and improve the functionality and appearance of the eyelid.
At Turó Park Aesthetic, we are committed to your well-being before, during, and after the procedure, ensuring professionalism not only in the treatment but also on the road to recovery.

Blepharoplasty Surgery Step by Step
Before the surgery, it is necessary to visit the surgeon for a detailed evaluation of the eye area and eyelids. During this examination, the specific aspects that need correction will be determined.
Cosmetic eyelid surgery lasts approximately 1 hour and is performed under local anesthesia with sedation, although it is also possible to be performed under local anesthesia alone. It is important to note that both the surgery to remove bags from the lower eyelids and the correction of ptosis can be performed without leaving visible scars, thanks to a hidden incision inside the eyelid.
Blepharoplasty is generally performed on an outpatient basis, allowing the patient to return home the same day. Thanks to modern techniques, the recovery period is short, ranging between 7 and 10 days at most.

Very pleased with Dr. Lloyd Nanhekhan and his staff. Highly recommended. I have seen more than 10 specialists in Barcelona but he is the only one I could trust and always will. He focuses on his patients and best practices from the medical perspective not the sales perspective.

Frequently Asked Questions about Blepharoplasty
In the vast majority of cases, eyelid surgery is not painful. However, it may cause some discomfort. In all cases, effective pain relievers are prescribed.
It is advisable to wait at least two or three weeks before using makeup after blepharoplasty and, in the case of mascara, it is necessary to wait an additional week. However, it is important to individualize each process as it depends on the state of the scar and the skin surrounding the eyelids.
The recovery process after blepharoplasty, although generally brief, requires specific attention and care. By minimizing strenuous activity, avoiding cigarette smoke, and delaying the use of contact lenses, our patients enjoy a prompt and comfortable recovery.
